Since 1989 the Naarden Photo Festival has been held every two years in the fortress of Naarden. After 30 years the festival has become one of the most important photo festivals in The Netherlands. Leading, comprehensive, high standard and innovative are key words which characterise the Naarden Photo Festival. The context of the historical fortified town gives extra meaning to the photos - an element that makes a visit to the festival worthwhile and not easily forgotten.
The 2021 edition of the Naarden Photo Festival will open on Saturday 3 July 2021 and continue until Sunday 29 August 2021. The curator team consists of Feiko Koster, gallery owner Koster Fine Art Gallery, Naarden; Guinevere Ras, curator Nederlands Fotomuseum, Rotterdam; Lotte van Es, curator Huis Marseille, Amsterdam; Madé van Krimpen, gallery owner Multiplemadé, Amsterdam and Kenneth Stamp, curator special project 'Celebrate the Dutch Landscape', photographer. They set the main theme for this edition: The Art of Living.
The Naarden Photo Festival invites professional photographers to submit work for the coming edition. With 'professional photographers' we mean photographers who have a professional education in photography, who have had an exhibition and/or who are a member of a professional association (like DuPho). The festival invites photographers to connect with the central theme. Read more about the open call here.
